Boards of Canada

Boards of Canada are a Scottish electronic music duo consisting of brothers Mike Sandison and Marcus Eoin. They have been releasing music since 1996 and are known for their unique, atmospheric sound. They are considered to be one of the most influential electronic music groups of the past few decades. The duo's music is characterized by its use of vintage analog synthesizers and drum machines, as well as its nostalgic, pastoral sound. Their work often incorporates elements of ambient and IDM, and has been described as "haunting", "melancholy", and "evocative". Boards of Canada have been credited with helping to pioneer the use of vintage synthesisers in electronic music, and their work has been influential on a number of subsequent artists. Boards of Canada's music often reflects the duo's childhood growing up in the rural Scottish Highlands, with its wide open spaces and remote, desolate landscapes. This is evident in the group's use of field recordings and sampled sounds of old television commercials and public service announcements. There is also a strong sense of nostalgia in their music, which has been compared to the work of Brian Eno and Aphex Twin.

Autechre is a British music duo consisting of Rob Brown and Sean Booth, both from Rochdale, Greater Manchester. They are considered to be pioneers of the IDM and electroacoustic genres. Booth and Brown met through a mutual friend in 1987 and soon began working together, first releasing music on the Sheffield-based Warp Records in 1991. Autechre's music is highly experimental, often utilizing complex time signatures, atypical rhythms, and strange sound effects. Their early work was characterized by a fusion of techno and acid house, but they have since moved away from these styles, instead exploring more abstract and ambient territory. Autechre has released thirteen albums, most recently elseq 1–5 (2016). They have also been active in the visual art world, designing album artwork and directing music videos. Autechre's music often challenges the listener, as it is not always easy to follow or understand. However, this is part of what makes their music so interesting and unique. They are always pushing the boundaries of what is possible in music, and their willingness to experiment has led to some truly innovative and fascinating sounds.

Robyn Rihanna Fenty was born on February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados. Her mother, Monica (Braithwaite), is a retired accountant of African American origin, and her father, Ronald Fenty, is a warehouse supervisor of Afro-Barbadian and Irish descent. Rihanna has two brothers, Rorrey and Rajad Fenty, and two half-sisters and a half-brother from her father's side, each born to different mothers from his previous relationships. She grew up in a three-bedroom bungalow in Bridgetown and sold clothes with her father in a stall on the street. Rihanna's childhood was deeply affected by her father's addiction to crack cocaine and alcohol, which contributed to her parents' strained marriage. As a child, she went through a lot of CT scans for the excruciating headaches she suffered: "The doctors even thought that I had a tumor, but it turned out to be stress." Rihanna's parents divorced when she was 14. After the divorce, she and her brothers lived with their mother, and her financial status declined. Rihanna recalled, "That was the worst time of my life. I used to cry myself to sleep."
